“An activity celebrating the aided construction and aided teaching of Beichuan Middle School” was smoothly held and organized by Yihai Group at Yihai Branch Campus of Beijing No. 8 Middle School.
Participants present at this activity included: Qiao Wei, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Liu Yiqin, chairman of Sichuan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Shen Guifen, vice chairman of Xicheng District People's Political Consultative Conference, Tian Jingsheng, vice secretary of Chinese Education Society, Tong Wei, vice director of Xicheng District Education Committee and other relevant leaders of Xicheng District Education Committee, Luo Shengjun, vice director of Mianyang Municipal Education and Sports Bureau, Jiang Bei, chairman of Mianyang Municipal Committee for Overseas Chinese, Qu Yong’an, Chief Executive of Beichuan County, Deng Yong, director of Beichuan County Education and Sports Bureau, Liu Yachun, headmaster of Beichuan Middle School and other relevant leaders of Beichuan County, Ms. Wang Linda, honorary headmistress of Beichuan Middle School, president of Yihai Group, headmasters of Beijing and Changsha Branch campuses of Yihai Education Group and all other headmasters and teachers involved with the aided teaching activities.
In this activity, the participants reviewed the whole processes of the aided construction and aided teaching of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Yihai Group and Xicheng District Education Committee, and people of all walks of life in Beichuan Middle School by watching the documentary film entitled “Love as true as the mountain” produced by Mianyang Municipal Government in Sichuan Province.
Qiao Wei, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, remarked that the construction of Beijing Middle School attracted the love from the overseas Chinese at every corner of the world and the joint aided teaching activities organized by Yihai Group and Xicheng District Education Committee greatly increased the value of this education program, which is the greatest respect to all overseas Chinese having been involved with the aided construction and aided teaching in Beichuan Middle School.
Shen Guifen, vice chairman of Xicheng District People's Political Consultative Conference, expressed the heartfelt gratitude to all schools in Xicheng District for having actively participated in the aided teaching in Beichuan Middle School.
Qu Yong’an, Chief Executive of Beichuan County, said, the people of Beichuan County were very grateful. Over the past decades, people from all walks of life have done kindness to Beichuan. Beichuan Middle School got the support of the people from all walks of life. In the future, Beichuan is willing to join hands with Yihai Group to mutually assist the people in more urgent need of financial support than Beichuan.
Wang Linda, president of Yihai Group gave three bows to the schools and teachers involved with the aided teaching in the capacity of the permanent honorary headmaster of Beichuan Middle School for the sincerest gratitude, thinking that Education is the brightest undertaking under the sun. Yihai Group will continue to conduct the joint education with Beichuan Middle School, strengthen the teacher exchange cooperation between Yihai Education Group and Beichuan Middle School to provide more study opportunities for Beichuan students to go global.
Headmaster Liu Yachun of Beichuan Middle School remarked, under the organization of Yihai Group, Xicheng District Education Committee, Yihai Education Group, Mianyang Municipal Education and Sports Bureau and Beichuan Middle School jointly formed the Beichuan Middle School aided teaching program to have offer the aided teaching for 6 months, and it is difficult to make it. This program is unprecedented in the Chinese education history either in terms of the scale or in significance. Thanks to the platform built by Yihai Group, charity organizations caring people from all walks of life have established the predestined relationship with Beichuan Middle School.
It is known that this aided teaching program was implemented from August 2009 to July 2015 for six years. Xicheng District Education Committee and Yihai Group dispatched six groups of teachers of 73 person times from 40 schools for participating in the aided teaching in Beichuan Middle School. Warm stories highly featuring philanthropy, livelihood and education happened among Yihai Group, Xicheng District Education Committee, teachers involved with the aided teaching and teachers and students from Beichuan Middle School. Students from Beichuan Middle School warmly called Xu Bo, an English teacher from Luxun Middle School “Daddy”; the physics lessons given by Teacher Guo Mingqiang from the Huis School were very popular with the students of Beichuan Middle School; Physics Aided Teaching Team composed of Zhu Fazhi, Wang Haidong, Zhou Shu and He Chaojun worked together to put up Physics Laboratory in Beichuan Middle School by neglecting sleep and meals, which greatly moved teachers there; when Xu Jinghong, a teacher from Beijing Foreign Affairs School gave the aided teaching in Beichuan, she was tortured by the fact that her mother died and his father was diagnosed as having suffered from the lung cancer, yet she stayed on to proceed the aided teaching without hesitation; When the daughter of Sun Peng, a teacher from Yihai Branch Campus of Beijing No. 8 Middle School came into the world, he still adhered to his post in Beichuan Middle School to prepare the students for the math coaching lessons; Sun Peixu, a teacher from Yihai Branch Campus of Beijing No. 8 Middle School, has conducted the aided teaching in Beichuan for 4 consecutive years as from 2011. Yihai Group actively participates in the campus construction of Beichuan Middle School by using its education experience accumulated in the past 18 years, particularly advocating the education philosophy of paying attention to scores and performances on the one hand and the comprehensive qualities of the students on the other hand.
Through the joint efforts made by Beichuan Middle School and people from all walks of life, Beichuan Middle School has become the prestigious school in Mianyang City from the original mountainous backward middle school. In 2011 Beichuan Middle School hit the record high in the college entrance exam history for 64 years since its establishment with 182 students having reached the threshold for college admission, 9 students reaching the admission threshold for first-tier universities; in 2012, 326 students reached the threshold for college admission, including 27 students reaching the admission threshold for first-tier universities. In December the same year, Beichuan Middle School was identified by Ministry of Education as the first batch of education information pilot school under Ministry of Education as the only school in Mianyang District. In 2013, the school had a new record high in terms of the college entrance scores with 360 students reaching the threshold for college admission, including 37 students reaching the admission threshold for first-tier universities. In 2014, there were 400 students reaching the threshold for college admission, with the students reaching the admission threshold for first-tier universities at 52.8%. This was the first time to have 1 student admitted into Peking University, 2 students enrolled by Fudan University, many other students admitted into Renmin University of China, Central University of Finance and Economics, Capital University of Medical Sciences, China Agricultural University, Sichuan University and other prestigious universities and colleges. In 2015, there were 11 more students reaching the admission threshold for first-tier universities than 2014, altogether 48 students.
In this activity, Mianyang Municipal Education and Sports Bureau and Beichuan County presented silk banners to All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Xicheng District Education and Sports Committee and Yihai Group and medals of “endless love and beneficence to Qiang nationality” to teachers involved with the aided teaching in 40 schools, and also presented the certificates “Beichuan Honorary Citizen” to persons from All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Yihai Group and Xicheng District Education and Sports Bureau. Liu Yang, a student from Minzu University of China who graduated from Beichuan Middle School expressed his heartfelt gratitude to people from all walks of life on behalf of the students of Beichuan Middle School. Yihai Education Group presented Memorial Cups to 49 teachers involved with the aided teaching in Beichuan. Yihai Group expressed its idea that Beijing Yihai Public Welfare Foundation will continue to conduct the public welfare activities and continue to make the contribution to the subsequent development of Beichuan Middle School.
